PTA Information

The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is an entity which serves to meet the needs of the students, teachers, and staff of Westview Elementary. It is governed by a set of by-laws which are specific to our local chapter and are updated every five years or as needed. The PTA is represented by elected volunteers who make up the executive board. Each position and its duration are defined by the by-laws. Each non-executive board position is made up of volunteers who are nominated and agree to assume responsibility of their role for one school year.   Each member of the executive and non-executive board has one vote regardless of the number of committees on which they serve.

If you have an interest in serving in any capacity, please notify an executive board member. Volunteers are always needed and greatly appreciated. Our school and children benefit from the contributions of parents, teachers, and staff. Without volunteer efforts, many programs would not be possible. The PTA’s ability to offer programs is based solely on volunteer support.

The PTA is monitored by the National, State, and Local PTA Council and must follow established rules and regulations.

The PTA functions on a budget which is voted on by the board and by all PTA members each school year. The programs we support vary and are based on the current needs of the school.  Money for the budget is raised in two ways, fundraising and direct donations.

Membership is offered each year from August through October. A small portion of the membership fee is returned to Westview. The remaining funds support the National, State, and Local PTA.

Board Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month. Board meetings are open to all members. General assembly meetings are scheduled at least three times per year and are often in conjunction with other programs. Please make every effort to attend as important information is given and your input is needed and appreciated.
