Parents, there is quite a transition between Kindergarten and first grade. We work very hard during the day. Please let your child have some down time when they get home from school. Then tackle the small amount of homework that should not take more than 10 minutes per evening. Set a timer and let your child know that when the timer goes off they are expected to have their homework finished. Reward them in some way if they beat the clock. Examples: 5 minutes later bedtime, a story of their choosing to be read to them before bedtime, (a bubble bath, a manicure, - girls), a special time with Dad changing the oil in the car, or helping fill up the gas tank next time you go to get gasoline, for their of a movie and popcorn, (Using parental guidance of course). Try giving movie tickets every time they finish homework on time and when they get a certain number of tickets reward them in some way.
AR = Accelerated Reader
Students are able to read and take tests on AR books. These points will be used at the AR store to receive prizes . Encourage your child to check out AR books and start reading.
Thanks to all the parents that have volunteered time to help either in the classroom or at home.
